It’s common to think that we need special talents, abilities or characteristics in order to learn to dance. Some of us may even believe that we were born with an inability to dance or with two left feet.

If you watch Strictly and think ‘I wish I could do that’ but have always held back because of a particular belief, then keep on reading to discover common misconceptions about learning to dance and why we believe they are more fiction than fact.

As another season of Strictly Come Dancing comes to an end, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share some strictly secret dance tips with you all. Some of you may be thinking about starting your own dancing journey and others may be considering taking their dancing to the next level: no matter which stage you are in we guarantee these tips will help you to shine on the dance floor.

Learning to dance may seem scary at first, but it can also be extremely rewarding and build confidence. It’s actually pretty common for people to experience anxiety when attending an unfamiliar place or starting a new activity. However, nine times out of ten, the experience is never as scary as you imagined and you end up having a great time!

Blackpool holds a very special place in the hearts of ballroom dancers. There isn’t a World Champion or Strictly star who hasn’t Waltzed their way across the Empress Ballroom floor on their route to success. Our student Highlight for July is Kathryn Day! Kath has been a regular at out Wednesday evening FitSteps classes for a long time now, she also attends the ballet-based Barre Fit on a Thursday evening. We asked her some questions about her experience with us and why she loves to dance.

Anyone who has been dancing for some time will tell you, that there is always room for improvement and progression. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the ballroom or a seasoned professional you can continue to learn and grow from others.

Here at The Regency Dance Centre, we strive to provide a high-quality experience for all our dancers, as such we endeavour to stretch ourselves, get fresh ideas, and take on board tricks and tips from some of the best dancers in the industry. On Sunday 8th May, The Regency Dance Centre took a cohort of students, including myself to the NATD Social Competition at the Festival Hall in Kirkby - in -Ashfield. In this article, I am going to share an insider view of a competitor, just in case you could be tempted to give competitive dancing a try yourself.
