On Sunday 8th March 2015, the Associated Board of Dancing held a medalist competition at The Regency Ballroom. Five schools from across the Midlands ventured to The Regency Ballroom to take part in this competition, including the President of the ABD and couples from The Regency Dance Centre.

Doors opened at 11am, however many couples arrived earlier as this was the first time that the ABD hosted a competition at The Regency Ballroom. Nerves were mixed with excitement as everyone waited patiently to compete. The competition had plenty of entries and so gaurenteed an entertaining day for all.

Once the main ballroom doors opened, everyone made their way to their tables, each displaying the name of the dance school. All couples were invited onto the floor for a general Waltz and group pictures were taken.

Each event was seperated into Male and Female competitions so each member of the partnership was judged individually, allowing those without a partner to dance with their teacher, as well as by medal grade (e.g.  Intro Level, Bronze level, Silver Level, Gold and Above level) and also by age group.

We had couples dancing together and Andrew and Emily were also assisting and dancing with those who needed a partner. Everyone danced fantastically and we were especially pleased with how our dancers performed, resulting in  several wins and finalists for Team Regency!

A special mention is to be given to our under 16 competitors who gained some amazing results despite having only been dancing for a few weeks!

At the end of the day, the top teacher was announced, and Kim Dunn was announced achieving third place, and we couldn't be more proud of everyone.

Overall, everyone enjoyed the day, which provided some great competition experience.
