We are so pleased to announce we had some fantastic results in the NATD Festival of Dance Online competition including two national champions!
The event was arranged by our exam board, the National Association of Teachers of Dancing as an online alternative to their annual Medallist of the Year competition. Our students were required to film a short video of their dancing and submit it to be judged. The dance was selected by the NATD for each exam grade and age group. Dancers were also able to take part in the Festival of Dance events, which allowed all grades to enter. These videos were sent to independent adjudicators who selected the top 12 dancers to progress to the semi-finals and finals. The semi-finals and finals took place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July via a live zoom call and were judged by some of the top dancers in the world, including multiple times World Ballroom Champion, Marcus Hilton MBE and former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer and World Latin-American finalist Kristina Rhianoff.
The Regency Dance Centre had 7 dancers compete over 13 events, and we were delighted that 9 of their videos made it through to the live semi-finals. The adult events took place on Saturday afternoon, whilst the Juvenile (under 12yrs) and Junior (under 16yrs) events took place on Sunday morning. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how our students performed on the day, and they all did an excellent job of showcasing their dancing. Our full results are below:
