The jive is a lively and energetic dance that is known for its fast tempo and quick footwork. One of the key elements of the jive is the bounce action, which is the up-and-down movement of the body that gives the dance its distinctive rhythm. As another season of Strictly Come Dancing comes to an end, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share some strictly secret dance tips with you all. Sarah Davies has been attending our regular Ballroom & Latin-American class on a Thursday evening, however on Monday 1st August, she will be swapping her dance shoes for Weightlifting gloves as she competes for Team GB at the Commonwealth Games in the Women’s Weightlifting 71kg class in Birmingham!

Blackpool holds a very special place in the hearts of ballroom dancers. There isn’t a World Champion or Strictly star who hasn’t Waltzed their way across the Empress Ballroom floor on their route to success. This is why The Regency Dance Centre was very excited to take a group of students to compete in the NATD (National Association of the Teachers of Dance) Medalist of the Year Grand Finals.

Our student Highlight for July is Kathryn! Kath has been a regular at out Wednesday evening FitSteps classes for a long time now, she also attends the ballet-based Barre Fit on a Thursday evening. We asked her some questions about her experience with us and why she loves to dance.
