Blackpool holds a very special place in the hearts of ballroom dancers. There isn’t a World Champion or Strictly star who hasn’t Waltzed their way across the Empress Ballroom floor on their route to success. This is why The Regency Dance Centre was very excited to take a group of students to compete in the NATD (National Association of the Teachers of Dance) Medalist of the Year Grand Finals.

Our student Highlight for July is Kathryn Day! Kath has been a regular at out Wednesday evening FitSteps classes for a long time now, she also attends the ballet-based Barre Fit on a Thursday evening. We asked her some questions about her experience with us and why she loves to dance.

Anyone who has been dancing for some time will tell you, that there is always room for improvement and progression. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the ballroom or a seasoned professional you can continue to learn and grow from others.

Here at The Regency Dance Centre, we strive to provide a high-quality experience for all our dancers, as such we endeavour to stretch ourselves, get fresh ideas, and take on board tricks and tips from some of the best dancers in the industry. Last Sunday Andrew Dunn and Paula Hyde had the opportunity to attend an NATD lecture day so we could bring back what we had learned and share our knowledge with our students.

On Sunday 8th May, The Regency Dance Centre took a cohort of students, including myself to the NATD Social Competition at the Festival Hall in Kirkby - in -Ashfield. In this article, I am going to share an insider view of a competitor, just in case you could be tempted to give competitive dancing a try yourself.

Welcome to our new student spotlight feature!

Each month, our ASI instructor Paula Hyde, will be talking to one of our students and finding out why they love dancing at The Regency Dance Centre. This month, we are featuring Charlotte, who has been dancing with us for nearly five years. She is a massive Strictly Come Dancing fan and has recently achieved her bronze medal. Read the interview below!

Last week we saw the return of the famous Blackpool Dance Festival where competitors from across the world travelled to the famous Winter Gardens Ballroom. The festival included many categories for Ballroom, Latin-American and American Smooth which saw some excellent results for British couples!
